The Canadian Derivatives Institute is a non-profit organization recognized for its excellence in research and training programs in finance, particularly in the fields of derivatives and risk management. Its extensive academic and professional network provides it with in-depth expertise, enabling it to undertake mandates for fundamental and applied research, high-quality training, and the production of financial literature, all with the aim of supporting the development of the Canadian and Quebec financial ecosystem.
The Canadian Derivatives Institute (CDI) is a joint initiative of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), the Ministry of Finance of Quebec (MFQ), Finance Montreal (FM), and HEC Montreal, along with numerous collaborators and partners. It was established thanks to generous donations from the AMF, MFQ, and HEC Montreal, in addition to contributions from the Global Risk Institute, the National Bank, and Hydro-Quebec over the years. The CDI also closely collaborates with the Montreal Alternative Investment Forum (FIAMtl), the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA), the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and TMX.
Empowering Canada’s financial industry through knowledge and innovation, the Institute is committed to promoting the responsible and efficient use of derivative instruments. Our mission is to enhance expertise among stakeholders, improve risk management practices, and contribute to the development of the derivatives sector on a national scale. To achieve this goal, the Institute has three main mandates: education, research, and knowledge transfer.
